In other words - 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock are wrong - and hard to see. Wear them at about 1 and 11 o'clock and you'll look better.

And if you have dicing on your hose foldover, align that edge with the centre (no I'm not an American) of the diamond. I can just about here the "harrumphs" already, but don't take if from me alone....

Check out the Dress Regulations from the Royal Regiment of Scotland site - the big "super-regiment" in Britain now incorporating all the former Scottish regiments and there's a visual. I think they know what they're doing. They invented most of all this, after all. http://www.army.mod.uk/documents/gen..._Rulations.pdf
Yeah, I think you may have struck a nerve here.... It may be a pet peeve of yours to see other with their flashes or ties on the side of their leg, but I think it is more wrong for you to tell people they are WRONG for doing it this way, you show me some book that was written in 900AD (the first documented "birth" of Scotland) that says the ONLY RIGHT way to wear garter ties and flashes is slightly to the front, then I will say you may be correct, however, since there is NO such book, people can dress any which way they choose to dress, it is a personal preference, and not "WRONG" as for the Dress Regulations from the Royal Regiment of Scotland , that is "their" dress code and NOT something that needs to be forced on the rest of the Kilted world.
