Thanks for the well wishes - my family and myself are safe, but others I know haven't faired so well. My wife's cousin had her house pushed off its slab and it sailed about a kilometre away (two thirds of a mile), and we've been sending truckload after truckload of written off cars away to be wrecked.

When you consider the fact that this means that an area more than twice the size of Texas has been declared a disaster area, I think it really brings it home as to how big the devestation really is.

The death toll has climbed again to 20 in my area, but the number of missing are decreasing daily so that is at least some good news. The focus now shifts to Victoria and NSW and hoping that they have benefited from the prior warning and don't suffer the way we have.
