I'm sending them out with some other wood for stabilization today or tomorrow.
I'm not the only knife guy around and I figured around here people can always use a source for it. I'll say the first time went smooth. Quick delivery. Good price at $23US a block and above is equal to 4 blocks. Another nice thing since a standard 5" blank is too short to do a dirk sheath and a lot of places either don't carry or charge extra for "odd" sizes.
The other pieces of Highly Figured Masur Birch were nice but not quite what I wound call highly figured. They are still better than most of what I've seen before and a good price. It's not a common wood in this country so good pieces are hard to come by.
There are a few other pieces that I want to give a shot at once I see how well the moisture matches their adivetized 10%. That will be the deal make or break. Stabilization requires the wood be below 13% moisture and bob oak is rarely that low.
