    I'd say if it sounds/acts/smells/looks just like a sporran, then I'd wear it, no matter who it was originally intended for. For the OP, to me personally, the one pictured does not qualify.

    As far as opening doors goes, I'm a victim of my upbringing, and will always hold the door for a lady. I'm not sure if that's chivalry, or just the fact that if I hold the door, I get to watch her walk past.....

    If we let the cat out of the bag the show's over for all of us! The women-folk still think we're just being polite.

    [QUOTE=RockyR;956699]Alan...

    Should men get mamograms and visit an OBGYN yearly?

    Not to get off topic...but men do get breast cancer...so no, they don't need to get an OBGYN...but if there is a history of breast cancer in their families they should get checked...
    Which is just another way of saying that times have changed since the "good old days" or "golden days of yore" or whatever you want to call them. To each their own I guess...but the original question just made me think he was upholding a fine Scots tradition of being cheap!

    Oh, were it so that I were desperate! I earn a decent wage as a civil servant and probably could buy a new sporran. But with a wife in graduate school, a teenage boy eating me out of house and home, and a 15-month-old son to boot, I for one can't justify spending more than a hundred dollars (much less upwards of $500) on a day sporran when the alternative is nothing more egregious than a fashion faux pas on my part. The chrome-cantled hunting sporran from my pipe band kit will have to suffice for now.

    I am not associated with Stillwater Kilts but for under $100 I can heartily recommend the buzz kidder Inverness.

    I have a brown version and it is nicely made with plenty if space and two rings that fit my leather sporran belt perfectly.

    I am sure there are other sellers that may be geographically closer to you.
