Thanks my friend. Good perspective, and generally I agree, with the caveat that I am a tapered shape - from my paunchy belly down I get narrower, hips notwithstanding, so the belt does rather help the kilt straps from letting me (or my kilt) down.
Ah well; the perils of middle age. Guess I'll just keep off the stairs or else lose 30 lbs. and buy a new kilt!
