Matching Tartan Scarf with Tartan Kilt??

There was extra fabric when I ordered the Dutch Friendship Tartan so Kathy made a scarf from it.

Tossed it on up in Flagstaff.

Looking at the pic got me wondering if it was a "no-no" along the lines of wearing a matching tartan tie with a tartan kilt.

Yes, I know there are no rules - that's my credo.

Guess I'm wondering what folks think of the matching tartan scarf with a tartan kilt?

There is a joke about this

You probably know the joke about the Scot who snagged his kilt while carrying a scarf made from the remnant to his girlfriend. He arrived naked from the waist down with a package under his arm.
When she expressed her surprise he replied
Do ye like it? I've got another foot and a half in the box here.

But seriously, doesn't it remind you a little of a Caledonian Air stewardess?

Aw heck . . . I like it! A little rough for a scarf though; I have a sort-of-match but it's made of angora. A lot more cuddly. . . like my lady!

I think it looks just fine. Although, if it's made from left over kilt material, I'd think it kind of rough and scratchy too. But, I see no reason not to have a scarf of matching pattern.

Of course it's a taboo or nono, Riverkilt, that's why you wanted to do it.You should punish yourself by having matching argyle hose knitted up.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

You can do it, no problem. The important part is that is has to be the same tartan. I like to mix mine. When I wear my Ancient Lindsay kilt, I wear my Modern Lindsay scarf.
Did the same thing with my Gordon from WPG, but I wore my Dress Gordon scarf. Same tartan, different hues. Lairds plaids are worn this way also.

But I agree about tartan ties and etc.....
