Help me find a sporran
I have a brown leather casual sporran. I have a fur sporran.
I want to find a black one. Something nice enough to wear with a nectktie and jacket or blazer or Argylle and etc, casual enough to wear about town running errands. A daywear sporran.
There is a catch. I do not want a flap to hold up against my belly with one hand while I root around inside with the other hand. I want it to open at the top without a flap. No Rob Roy, no Jacobite, no hunter.
Do you know of one? Linkage? I am willing to go $100 maybe $120 with shipping. At $200 I would have a more expensive sporran than I am seeking.
Thanks

A hunting sporran is the only one for $100-120 that I know of that does not have a flap over the top of the opening. The only others are Ferguson Britt styles but you are not going to get one of those in your price range
Good luck in your endeavours

Tough one
I can't think of anything to meet all of your criteria. The only sporrans that I can think of that don't have a top flap are Hunters and metal cantle sporrans both of which will be hard to find in your price range. Stillwater makes this one with zipper top openings, but it would be too casual, in my opinion, to wear with a black argyle (tweed perhaps).

Best of luck!

I love my black leather Stillwater nighstalker...wear it all the time. Has a front flap with a velcro closure for wallet, back is double zip for "junk."
Why I love it is I can operate it with one hand and without looking down to see what I'm doing.
Don't know if Stillwater is still selling them, but can't hurt to check it out.

Aprreciate the input. I was afraid it was going to be "pick any two" and that does seem to be the case.

Thanks. I haven't read a negative review of one yet. Not currently listed for sale on the website.

Rocky and Jerry both sell Buzz Kidders of various finishes and styles that run between $55-$80.
The one I have has a magnetic closure, which is way less of a pain in the a$$ than a snap or laces. I open it and rumage through it's fairly cavernous interior with one hand all the time. Half the time the catch doesn't actually catch, but that big ol' medallion on the flap is so heavy that it doesn't really matter. You could probably remove the catch and it would still be secure enough for anything except bungy jumping...which I'm not sure if one should do kilted anyway. Well, I might, but...
Of my sporrans it's my favorite. IMHO they're nice enough for jacket-and-tie(but not formal), but work well with casual attire too. It's definitely become my go-to sporran, and gets my 5-Star Seal of Approval.
The Nightstalker is pretty cool too. It's next on my list for hiking and such, but it's pretty casual in my mind.

Try this link. Brice Lythgoe did a custom red fox sporran for me and it was very nice, especially for the price.

Plus one on the Buzz Kidders, I have two. The soft leather and magnetic clasp make for easy one hand operation. I have a leather SWK Nightstalker as well, it's my go-to for casual, but usually I run the Kidders for anything above that.
