Piste in a Kilt- Not me, too cold
A couple of hundred hardy kilties, male and female attempted to set a new record for the number of people on a piste in a kilt
Unfortunately they failed, attempting this record on the slopes of Cairn Gorm mountain. 180 people completed the 1.5 mile run from the top of Cairn Gorm but it was not enough to beat last year's record of 235 on the same slope.
About £900 was raised for cancer care and the local schools skiing programme
The skiers were led on to the slope by Badenoch pipe band.
Next year Cairn Gorm in Kilts will attempt the record again but apparently on the same day next year in the US ski resort of Wisp in Maryland, this record will also be attempted.
Too cold for me, wet kilt, wet bum, no way

Do you know who is organizing the attempt in Maryland? Wisp is not very far from my brother's home.

The Cairn Gorms are where SAS hopefuls go to die, so I do have to say I would wear Goretex and Thinsulate ahead of a kilt any day. But it's a great cause and I'm sure it was an interesting experience for the participants, so winners all 'round.

Jimmie, I'm a newbie. Can you tell me, what's a piste?
First I thought maybe "being drunk" was spelled differently in Scotland.
Then I thought 200 people had lost control. . .
Please help!

The only piste I know of is 2 x 12 meters. You fence on it. :-)

Oh by the by:
A piste is a marked ski run or path down a mountain for snow skiing, snowboarding, or other mountain sports. The term is European, from the French for trail or track, synonymous with trail, slope, or groomed run in North America.
