I'm with the Wizard. I vote for the falkirk Wheel as my all time favorite. No one else has anything like it.

Television, invented my James Logie Baird. Without his work, we wouldn't have this Forum, now would we?
Sorry, Ted. The demonstration happened in London, and I see that you wanted these posts to be things in scotland.

Let's face it, the Scots built everything of note in the world although I will give the Chinese credit for the Great Wall and the Egyptians half the credit for the pyramids. But lest we Scots and Scots descendants become too vain about building the modern world, we should also remember the great Tay Bridge Disaster, which event would have been an unredeemed and unmitigated disaster indeed but for the epic poem of the same name by William McGonnigal....

Of course the "patron saint" of civil engineers is my great-great grandfather Sir Sandford Fleming, from Kirkcaldy in Fifeshire. His contibutions were many: the Prime Meridian, 24 hour clock, standard time, the Canadian Pacific Railway, the Pacific Cable, iron bridges, lift locks--to name just some of his contributions.

(Wasn't that designed by an Englishman, though?)
I hope to see the Falkirk Wheel one of these days; but I haven't been in Scotland since it was built. Probably my favorite bit of engineering that I've actually seen is the Forth Rail Bridge. Photo by Greg Barbier from Wikimedia Commons:
