It is just red garment weight leather. Not sure of the thickness. I have a quarter in the pic for reference.
I thought it looked heavier than the pig skin lining leather that I use. I like the look of mass that it has. And I never even thought of using any color other than black for lining! What a great idea!
***EDIT*** And I just figured out why I couldn't tell what it was! You sewed it on the inside with the flesh side out! That does give it a nice texture.
