It's a large round golden medal on a Red White and Blue ribbon.

The "other" medal Prince Harry was wearing incidentally is the the Operational Sevice Medal for Afghanistan.



There is also a very impressive painting of the Brothers "Wales" in Household Cavalry uniforms, it was painted by Nicki Phillips and commisioned by the National Portrait Gallery.

WOW! Was that ever a beautiful wedding!

I have the day off from work and when I woke up and switched on the T.V., Kate was being driven to the abby, so I hurried out to the living room to watch the whole thing. I sent a text to my brother, who had to work today, about what I was doing, and a little bit later he replied, "Well? What's happening?". Seems there was a group of 7 or 8 guys, that would go do a little bit of work and then hurry back, waiting for updates. So from the point where Kate started walking up the aisle, I had to do a play by play for the guys at work.

Such a great day for the U.K.!

I gotta ask, though. What was the girl seated behind the Queen thinking when she picked out that hat?

Just caught a little bit of the festivities as I was sitting having the morning coffee. They were leading the crowd up to see the "first kiss"...one notably large Saltire being waved it the front of the crowd and I noticed one Canadian, one Cross of St. George and one Welsh flag amongst the sea of Union Jacks.

...so, incurable romantic that I am, let's hope that HRH Prince William snogs that lovely young lady a good one and they can have as nice and normal a young married life as they can what with living in the fishbowl of British Royalty.

ooooh...they just had a fly over by what looked like two Spitfires and a Lancashire bomeber...hope Alex Cunningham was watching...

There was a report on the BBC several days ago that, while there were about 5,000 street parties planned for today in England, in Scotland (with 10% of England's population) about 30 were planned.

They were trying to describe the coats of arms, something about three acorns and a "V" shape, but I didn't quite understand.

Sounds like they may have been talking about Catherine's arms:

The Middleton family wanted to have acorns on it, particularly as a reference to fact that the part of Berkshire in which they brought their children up, there are a lot of oak trees.

Then the modern Tornadoes and Typhoons went over -

No I wasn't watching I just happened to turn on the TV.

As my dad worked on Lancasters, and the old Typhoons and some others when he was in the RAF I expect I got a ghostly poke to turn on to see them.

While I'm happy to see good news for a change, I'm so sick of the media saturation. It's not just coverage... Every time I turn on the TV, there's something about it! I don't care about Kate's problem with her mouthy security guard. It's the whole tabloid gossip aspect that's starting to get to me!

Yeah, same here I even took a few moments to rant in my own thread. At least it's over now. I wish them the best but don't need to hear about it on the news anymore.
