If you say the words "Gin & Tonic" "Fly Whisk" and "Pith Helmet" three times each you will summon Panache; the Patron Saint of Silly Hats and Dashing Kiltedness.

It's the beard and pipe that make it!

Tobus,
Welcome to the club!
I find the pith helmet a really accessory for attending a Highland Games in the blazing sun and heat of summer.
While they aren't for everyone (a certain amount of humor is required to pull them off which you obviously have) you look good and definately make it work.
If I make a small suggestion, if you have a simpler belt without the fancy waist plate I would wear that instead. You can even get a wide khaki web belt at most hardware stores for about $7 that will look perfect with your new chapeau.

Cheers ith:
Jamie

Ah, then it would all turn into a Gary Larson "Far Side" episode....not saying that would be a bad thing!

Jamie, thanks for the suggestion! I kind of just threw this together on a whim for giggles with what I had. I really bought this hat for working outside and hiking in the heat. Which is why it's a straw hat, not a real authentic pith helmet. But I will probably get (or make) a wide khaki belt, and a safari style shirt with epaulettes to round out the look. Because, quite frankly, it's fun and a bit silly. Not sure I would be ready to wear it to a Highland Games yet, though!
