Thanks for the info. And I'm so glad you chose blue, because that is the one color her site doesn't show.

Is that a good thing or not?

According to my Knitter wife that is a good thing. Anything over fingering weight would look awful.
don't ask my why that is because I'm not a Knitter...

Quite spiffy, looks like she will be getting a lot more business now!

Those are handsome hose! And the knit garter flashes are an original and nice touch. I'm certainly another who'll be giving her business.

I am so glad that the buffet led to such a positive exchange. Makes all my hard work in organizing it worth it!
It seems that the knitter is in Canada. If so, were there any duties or import issues?
Why would you think there would be duties? We've had Free Trade for almost 23 years now!

About the yarn size...
The smaller the yarn is the better my heels feel. My weight is spread out over more surfaces, which eliminates the yarn from digging into my heels. I've made hose from worsted weight yarn, and don't wear them anymore because the bigger yarn is uncomfortable to wear.

I'm pretty picky aboot my hose.
Not being a tall man and having, what I feel are 'spindle shanks', I prefer the thickest hose I can wear comfortably.
Therefore I left off my store bought hose and had two pairs hand knitted for me.
Both have generous 4'' turndowns.
Although they cost me a few bawbees mair than what I paid afore, they look way much better.

Doesn't matter there are still duties on a lot of things (like soft lumber too note the most known). That's why I get shipping done but USPS instead of UPS or Fedex those two rape you on the duties.

The plural of hose is hosen, though it is an antique form - my grandmother used it but
I have not heard anyone else use it naturally.
Shoe also took the same form, shoen, and house, housen.
The use is a bit weird - you have several pairs of hose or shoes, two or three houses, but four is hosen, shoen or housen.
