    Your hounds'-tooth wool is worth your conversion efforts, and you're doing a great job.

    Suitable buttons are not easy to find, and they can be very expensive. For many years, I have been salvaging buttons from otherwise ruined garments. I like to use buttons made of antler, horn, wood, and pewter to go with these beautiful Harris tweeds and Shetland wool sweaters. For the Harris tweed cape I made for myself, (posted also in this DIY showroom thread) I used some half-ball buttons made of braided leather, from Germany.

    You're almost done. You can sew on shank buttons while watching tv!
