100% agree, Mike. It's a veterans organization, not a pipe band, so we have a common shirt and hat, but not common kilts, etc. We are free to wear a sporran and kilt of our choosing (either clan, military service, or other). I will be wearing my Tewksbury US Army kilt. I know other guys in the post have Navy (Edzell?) or Leatherneck tartan kilts. In pics from years past, they were wearing spats, but there was a variety of hose...from diced to solid colored, white, etc. I definitely think that the darker colors (either solid or diced) look better over white spats, but with mismatch kilts and in an effort to standardize hose for a more polished look, I guess the decision was made to go with a color that they assume everybody will have.
