Jock,congratulations to you for supporting her in this , and to her for an enormous task completed. Mama went back when I was 12, I understand the effort it requires. YAAAYY!!! Take her some pace to play a bit.
On the matter of your sleeves: you've mentioned that you've somewhat retired, and that your sons are, IIRC, "managing my land to our mutual benefit". For years, you shouldered the load, now they've picked up some of the weight and literally now your shoulders don't have to be so broad. A sign of a job well done.
