Actually, I'm in the middle of reading The Art of Kiltmaking. Fascinating reading. I highly recommend it.

white people, indians and highlanders by colin calloway. very informative so far. i just ordered fitzroy maclean's eastern approaches after watching a military channel show about his time with tito in ww2. i have a feeling i will be reading more of maclean's books. he seems to be very much like te lawrence, except he did not burn out too early (i loved 7 pillars of wisdom).

Is there more there than just how to? If so, what's the balance between the two? I have no interest in making one, but the history and the wearing delight me.
...and to answer the original question, today I'm reading up on the Higgs boson. Wow!

Two on the go at the moment: "Flashman and the Tiger" by George Macdonald Fraser, and "A Dog's Purpose" by W Bruce Cameron. If you have not read the Flashman series, you should Flashy is Fraser's capture of the caddish bully of Tom Brown's Schooldays at Rugby in his grownup persona as the Victorian hero and scoundrel. There are a dozen in the series and you should really start at the beginning with "Flashman".
The Flashman books are absolutely brilliant; hilarious, informative and highly recommended!

Currently reading The Dirty Parts Of The Bible by Sam Torode. It's hilarious and a neat look at Depression-era America. Reading it as a bit of an interlude before continuing with A Place Beyond The Map by Samuel Thewes.
