I've the Windows Vista swirly thingy that came with this computer! My previous one had all manner of images which I sometimes changed over the years.
Unfortunately, I have now quite forgotten how to change things like that!
By the way, how do you fellows get pictures of your monitor screens? my keyboard has a button labelled "Print Scr", but when I use it nothing happens. Where am I going wrong?
Take care,
Ham.

If you right click your mouse on your screen a box comes up you can then scroll down to
Properties click on it
Another box will appear, navigate to the Desktop button there will be a button there that says Browse you can click on it to find the photo that you want displayed on the desktop.
If you need anymore help with it please let me know.

I think Hamish was asking how to take a screenshot of the desktop.

To capture your desktop screen, open a Word document or other word processing or graphic program window and then minimize it (after all, you want to see your desktop).
Press and hold the CTRL key and press the PrtScn key.
Bring your Word document or other program window back up.
Press and hold CTRL and type the letter v.
(By the way, if you want just a picture of a specific window, use ALT and PrtScn.)

Many thanks, Glen. I tried this but got a different set of windows to those you describe. However, I found something called "Personalise" and clicked on that - and it worked! I have now changed my desktop image to a photo I took in Scotland last year. Now, I'll try Coinneach's instructions to be able to post it here.
Take care,
Ham.

At work, A picture of Tobermory has been there for a while:

At home they rotate a bit, motorbike touring pics, kilt stuff, old Jaguars, family pics
