I do so hope you are British as you say that. Some Americans wouldn't know that you are referring to Cigs. (I hope you are anyways.)

    Exactly!
My habbit is something that is unlikely to kill me... and atleast I have something physical - other than yellow teeth and bad skin to show for it
It is in truth not for glory, nor riches, nor honours that we are fighting, but for freedom -- for that alone, which no honest man gives up but with life itself.

When mine objects I just say... Well I object that you are a drunk or... I object that this is your 5th husband. That pretty much takes care of that.

I was thinking the same thing.... Since ciggies are not refered to as fags lol remind me of a friend who was asked to go outside and blow a fag.... He freaked out a bit till it was explained they were asking him to go smoke a ciggie.

Nope. Never. As I only wear kilts as a reminder of family affiliation and history there would be nothing negative anyone could say. In fact friends, especially those Scottish, thank me when I wear my kilts.

I could see getting comments (negative or not-so-positive) if family or friends think it's a fad or something done for attention or "to be different".

I have gotten to the age that I just don't care what other people think. I live my life not to hurt anyone. The golden rule. So, in my olds age, I care only that they are thinking of me. If people are thinking bad thoughts about me, at least they aren't thinking bad thoughts of others. But, if they are thinking good thoughts of me, good for me.

My last response was incomplete; so, I'm posting a second response.

My father is passed so I don't know what he would think other than he got me interested in our Scottish background. My 2 older brothers are respectful of the kilt and ask a lot of questions, but have no interest in wearing one. Both nephews think the kilt is cool, but have not purchased any for economic and other reasons.

My sister's reaction to a kilt

I was sharing this thread with a friend who reminded of me of little sister's (then 16) reaction to me wearing a kilt.

It was not, as I expected, 'OMG, My brother is wearing a kilt!' but rather, 'OMG! My brother is wearing a kilt and didn't shave his legs!'

Shortly after I bought my first pair of kilt-hose.

Unless you are an Olympic swimmer. Or maybe a pro wrestler. We can make a few exceptions. I can not think of any other legitimate reason.
