Re: Anyone's spouse/significant other vehemently opposed to you kilting?
Ill have to admit Im one of the fortunate ones who has a girlfriend that enjoys me in a kilt. When we were in Scotland this past June, a self guided bike tour of the Highlands, she told me to "Go for the skirt" when i picked one up at a small town shop. She has enjoyed me wearing all of my kilts, 2 Elkommando, 1 Stillwater kilt, 1 Hector Russell, and my hand sewn kilt from Bonnie Greene. Since about mid July I wear jeans maybe once a week, otherwise it is kilts. She always tells here school teacher friends ill show up to happy hours in a kilt and then pimps them to ask the "question". She even said I better be in my Bonnie Greene kilt when we attended her friends wedding. Even the bride was glad I wore it. So I count myself fortunate to have her in my life and also accepting of my always wearing a kilt of some sort. I just have to keep her hands from under my apron when we are at the movies. ;)

My wife is fairly indifferent. She does however really like my Scotland the Brave Kilt as it has a bold purple in it and she loves purple.

It's not my wife, but my sister-in-law that won't be seen in public with my kilt. My wife and I went to their house for a weekend visit. that evening, we decided to go to a local Irish bar for dinner. I put my kilt on, and my wife says that K###n won't go unless you take off the kilt. Well, I did and went out anyway. I was livid!!!!. Months later, my wife and I went to the same town and stayed in a motel. I wore the kilt to the very same pub. Upon our arrival, we found that the bar was closed for a private function. The manager came out to tell me, but said that I had come all this way a nd was kilted, he let us in and bought my wife and I both a drink. A lot of the people from the party came over to comment on the kilt. Lots of drinks were purchased and we left very happy.
The power of the kilt.

My wife is okay with it, but hates the cost. She is better with the PV type kilts though.
HOWEVER, a pipe band I use to play with had a Scot attending the local university, and he brought his pipes. Use to see him downtown playing on the sidewalk wearing his kilt. Good piper. Sadly though he feel in love with a coed who obviously had not a drop of Celtic blood in her or DNA, cause when they got engaged she put an end to any notion he had of a kilted wedding, and after the nuptials there would be no more playin' the pipes! Never saw him again, and yes the bloody fool married her anyway.
