Exactly so, I looked it up
Manchester United 9-0 Ipswich (1995)
Tottenham 9-1 Wigan (2009)
So, how often have 700 runs been scored in Cricket?
Sorry for this offtopic bit... we could take a Scottish turn, and discover the most goals scored in the SPL, and wonder why the fans who attend SPL matches don't wear kilts, but the fans to attend international Scotland matches do. (At least that's what I see on TV.)

700 runs
In answer to OC Richard
A score of 700+ in one innings has been made 20 times in Test Matches (between national teams) in over 2,000 games of two innings each. In first-class (professional) matches throughout the world there have been 49 times 775 or over was scored, going back well into the nineteenth century. According to the records none of the batsmen were wearing kilts, let alone white hose or flat caps - although since records were relatively sketchy in earlier years this cannot entirely be ruled out.

Jock Scot, please plan on staying around for a while. Your insight is very welcome and helps all. Though I have only been on the site for a short time I have gained valuable insight into the Kilt society.

Thank you so much for the kind words and please rest assured that I am doing my very best to resist the inevitable!

Jock, you know you cannot keep fighting that urge to wear your flat cap and white hose with your kilt forever .
But seriously, as ever your personal, novel, and experienced viewpoints on all things scottish and highllander are greatly respected here, as I am sure you already know.
Your friend,
jeff
