Thanks for chiming in, Hank. I say if there is to be a tartan for this forum, it needs to be one blessed by you. This is your forum, after all. While it would certainly be charitable of you to allow for group input (like a poll), in the end, it's your call, mate!
Aye,
Matt

Well, there you go! LOLOL
Let's get the show on the road, here!
I'm with ya, Hank.. Nobody else has even hinted at having a design they might want to submit, so might as well get it all moving.

If it comes down to voting, my vote goes to No. 1. It is a less intricate design. I generally opt for the less complicated over the more complicated. That is why I like Colt Single-Action revolers, great simplicity and effectiveness. Same can be said for Tartan Design No. 1.

perhaps a seperate thread/poll would be best. I'm for number one. The less white the better.

Just so everyone knows:
13oz Locharran tartan averages 24 threads per inch.
X Marks Tartan #1 Has 228 threads per sett.
That makes the sett 9.5"
If pleated to the stripe w/ 1" pleats, pleat depth will be 4.25"
A Marks Tartan #2 has 212 threads per Sett.
That makes the Sett 8.83"
If pleated to the stripe w/ 1" pleats, pleat depth will be 3.915"
Darn, I hate it when you run out of fingers and toes doing math.

Whoa. That's a big sett. The Ramsay Blue I have on right now has a 5.5 inch sett. You can see it in my gallery.

Around 8 to 9 inches is an ideally sized sett for kilting. I'm sure Matt planned it that way!
