Yeah my dad wears his pants and such that way. I just could never get it.

I wear at my true waist, always have with whatever clothing that might be affected.

    much more comfortable to me.

There is a comfort angle here. Whilst a generous yardage worn at natural waist might look best, it's not the most comfortable. When relaxing, those acres of material can get in the way.

I wear at natural waist when out and about, but wear a correspondingly shorter kilt at jeans waist when lounging around at home.

I read somewhere that as they reach the onset of old age :crap: men (and women) begin to redevelop a baby shape.
    Nothing to do with overweight.
Garment waists are then most comfortably worn either above or below the belly.

    Yeah it’s tough aging.
    Better than the alternative though.

    To the OP:

Thanks for posting this question. I too was unsure of which was "better".

    To the picture donors:

Thank you. That really helped me understand and decide which way to go.

When belly bulge is not an issue, I think that wearing a kilt at jeans waist makes it look more skirt-like.

I was just looking at the standard drops on the Sport Kilt line. They appear to be set up for the jean's waist rather than the true waist. Something to keep in mind.

And if you get a SportKilt, be sure to opt for the sewn down pleats. You have to pay extra for that.
