The original handle was birch painted black with a rather cheezy pseudo-knotwork design cut into it. The blade has short length of 1/8" dia threaded rod welded to the blade. It extended up thru the wood handle and was secured with a small nut which was hidden by the metal cap. When that was removed. the knife was easily dis-assembled. The new handle also extends up thru the handle except I secured it in place with a liquid metal epoxy. I would have to destroy the handle if I ever neede to take it apart again.
