Rickman casting as Snape actually countered the fact that Richard Harris was Dumbledore (which by itself would probably have caused me not to see the movie - at least in theaters).

I thought Richard Harris was wonderful in Wrestling Ernest Hemingway and The Field. Did a pretty good Dumbledore, too.

Ditto Bear...also...the 400X Gimp Editor (Linux for you that don't know me!) shows definatly it's a kilt!
I know it had previously been determined but I had to add my $.02 to the mix.
