I have received the fabric and shipped it to Patty to be made into my first traditional kilt.
Gordon Kirkbright dropped it off, wrapped in plastic, and I thought it looked pretty cool.
When he left I took the plastic off ... and gasped.
I actually gasped!
There are a lot of guys here who love tartan. I'm one of those that likes tartan.
But I gasped.
This tartan is so much more beautiful than the pic above that I can't say how much. It's brighter, more vibrant, and the colours are so well chosen and ... balanced. That's the word! The Celtic Pride tartan has a balance, not only of the spacing of the lines of colour, but the colours themselves are there in all the right quantities, shades, depth ...
You're just going to have to wait until I get some pics of the finished kilt to know what I'm talking about. I've tried to play with the colours in my graphics program but I can't get it right.
I'm so glad I dithered on which tartan to choose for my first traditional kilt. I got some Celtic Pride from the first batch!
This tartan will be more famous than the Irish National Tartan!

I doubt it will be in poly/viscose for some time. Celtic Pride is registered to a weaver, so whether they decide to weave it in poly/viscose or let someone else weave it in poly/viscose is up to them.

See what I meant? Not the same, but similar.

Celtic Pride

Grand Lodge of Scotland Tartan Kilt
This splendid tartan is based on the colours as used by Grand Lodge since its' inception in 1736 as well as other colours of Masonic and/or Scottish significance. The main colours are Thistle Green and Gold. The minor colours are blue and black. (as per- http://masonicthemes.com/index.php?p=content&id=tartan )

The Celtic pride tartan is much brighter than the computer generated pic I posted. It's much closer to the green of the Irish National tartan than the dark green tartans.

I hope so, too!
As much as I'd like to have a monopoly on the Celtic Pride, anyone can get this tartan from Fraser & Kirkbright in Canada
http://www.wooltartans.com/index.htm
or The Scottish Weaver in the USA.

And I think it would be a fantastic tartan for XMarks!

You could alway buy the entire run. Probably wouldn't cost but a few hundred thousand dollars, and they'd probably give you a bulk discount. :P
