Welcome to you both Angus and Elkdoc. One point though. "Scotch is what a Scots man drinks." I heard a friend from Edinburough use that line when someone said they were scotch.

Hi Elkdoc! Back in the '70s I was high in the Appalachians. Back in the '70s I was high in a lot of places.
I'm a Pittsburgh expat, living in not-so-sunny California.

Once again I'd like to second what elkdoc said. The warm welcome is much appreciated, and just out of curiosity how many members are from the good ole' state of Pennsylvania?

Well I for one am a citizen of the Great Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Chester County, in West Caln Township (near the Lancaster / Chester County line).

Better late than never...welcome to the forum, I hope you enjoy you stay here.
How did your interest in kilts begin?
As you've already seen, there is a great bunch of friendly folk here. I trust and pray all your questions will be answered and maybe you'll have a thing or two to show us!

Tough question. As a kid a got chills when I heard my first pipe tune, and LOVED the way the piper dressed. Allways noticed when I saw a picture in history books of kilted individuals.
About 3 years ago I started digging into family history and discovered a few connections to Scotland and Ireland, and started "jonesing" for a kilt real bad. Recently the bug has hit hard. I guess there's always been something deep inside that said it would just be "right" to be kilted at least part-time. Poor explanation, I know...

Welcome Elkdoc and Angus,
Used to live down the road in Bristol, VA/TN and just sent a lady back to PA...so feel a kind of connection.
The Scotch comment brought back memories of my besotted years. I developed the, probably Scottish, habit of saving the last bit of Scotch in the bottom of the bottles. Parties were a havest! Then I'd pour those last bits into another bottle, combining them all. I wrapped shipping tape around the bottle and wrote what each addition was. When the bottle filled up I'd have a "party" (read go out in the back yard and suck it all down) as I read through the list of contributors to my homemade "blend."
If I'd been kilted then the "blend" would have raised them for sure.
Thankfully sober today,
