The cold dossn't bother me, the wind does (not so much me but my wife hates the idea of my wedding tackel getting seen by the public). The only good thing is the weather is really starting to get nice and being kilted is the only way to go.

For me, its not the cold that does it. Rather, it's the wind that blows the snow up my kilt that really gets me! (and there is a horrid pun in there, yes, but I'll let it slide)
I tend to run colder overall, but while I'll have quite a few upper layers of cloths (Shirt, sweater, etc) on, kilt and socks keep the lower half of myself warmer than anything. The mitton theory definitely works...
providing that mother nature or one of her children (aka curious guests) dont let the air outta the bag by lifting it up!

I've worn: 4-yard poly-viscose Bear Kilt, a Sport Kilt, and a traditional Utilikilt (not the heavier Workman model), all in temperatures below 0F. Sure it was chilly. People wearing pants were cold too - it was cold out! I certainly wasn't any colder than they were, though.

Hundreds of Hardy Highlanders spinning in their cold, rocky graves!

I get the "aren't you cold" question all the time... usually my feet get cold from the ground before anything else gets chilled.

In the midwest someone passing gas in Kanasas causes a bigger wind in Nebraska than 10 mph! today isn't bad, about 30 mph winds. Not good for light weight kilts...I don't want to give anyone an inferiority complex.

Just went out to grab some lunch and discovered the wind had come up. There are 20 knot gusts on campus. The crossing from my building to the building that has the sandwiches and coffee was fraught with tension!
But I made it, modesty intact. I even got back to my building with all due propriety. Aiiieee!! LOLOL! First time out kilted in a breeze, and me in my Stillwater!

Bishop,
It was me who passed the gas...But I am in New England, not the Midwest. I should think the winds would be greater than 30 mph! Maybe some mountain range deflected part of it.
Please excuse me... but my my wife made this crazy salad and...well...umm...sorry.
