For a few dollars more, you can get a nice Irish National kilt from Stillwater Kilts.
I for one, am not a fan of dressing in school girl skirts.
Oh... you know, this brought back a memory that I had repressed. Back when I was still dating my old psycho girlfriend, she wanted to get me a kilt for Christmas. And she was put off by the price.
Then... in an Irish import shop (supposedly) she found a cheap kilt and gave that to me. I actually wore it out once to a Highland festival. I got out of my car... took a look around at the kilts that surrounded me, and quickly got back in and took the thing off, putting shorts back on.
There's NO WAY that was a kilt.
I actually never told her because 1) she was so proud of that gift, and 2) if I had told her she had been taken for a ride, she might have had a coronary right there.
Of course, if she had, I might not have stayed with her as long as I did.

I have run into two people now wearing school girl skirts rather then kilts. And both insisted they were wearing kilts. Both stories are actually pretty funny. One story I have told here. I shall save the other for a rainy day.

A highland festival is among the last places I'd try to pass off a cheap kilt.
An American tavern on St. Patrick's Day is another matter.

What makes it funny is how defensive they get... When they realise they are wearing women's clothing and it dawns upon them that their attempt at a macho image has backfired horribly. The mix of shock, embarassment, and anger on their faces all at once is a sight to behold, followed by the realisation that they are in public.
