    Volrath,

A warm welcome to you from the United Kingdom - home of the kilt as we know it today! Everything my kilted brethren have told you is true but, no matter what you are told, you can only appreciate the joys of the kilt by wearing it yourself.

Good Luck to you, and we look forward to seeing photos of your progress into our kilted world, and to hearing of your own experiences.

Sounds like you are on a great path, just one suggestion. Instead of donating your old trousers to your three younger brothers, how about helping them to get kilted! :-D What a great example that would be from a big brother, aye? Anyway, welcome and hope you'll enjoy your new kilt (hopefully it will be there soon) and your time here in the forum!

Yeah, I was intending to buy them kilts for Christmas, two of them like kilts, but one doesn't.

Wait until he starts seeing the attention the others will get, then the sibling rivalry will set in and he will want a kilt as well!

And here I thought you were suggesting that you were going to donate your younger brothers to the Salvation Army, rather than your pants. *LOL*

    Welcome!

    Yay!

Took a bit longer than I hoped, but my kilt finally arrived today! Now all I need to do is pick it up from the post office. Hopefully I'll have some photos quite soon!

    Unhappy False alarm

Sadly, the parcel turned out to be some artwork by parents bought from Nova Scotia.

O Postal Sytem, why do you torture me so?

I'm also waiting for a SWK to cross the border, though this one is a gift for my brother. The first one only took eight days from the date of order. This one's taking a little longer, but never fear, our kilts will soon be here!

BTW, Volrath50, I first wore a kilt when I joined the reserves when I was 16. Like Archangel, it was a long time ago . . . Canadian Scottish Regiment (Princess Mary's).

My kilt has nothing to do with my regiment. I'm in 56th Field Regiment, Royal Canadian Artillery. No kilts or balmorals here.

I'd wanted a kilt before I joined, and the reserves happened to provide the money. (Although they "forgot" to pay me last week. Bloody pay system. I wanted to buy World of Warcraft. )
