Fly plaid
As many others have mentioned, I cannot recall ever seeing anyone other than a piper wearing a fly plaid over here, even for a very formal wedding.
Panache - I think the 'formality' that a fly plaid normally implies would not really look right with tweed jacket. What sort of occasions would you consider wearing them together?

Personally I will wear my fly plaid with an Argyle because as long as the rest of the outfit is still very dressy I feel it looks good. It adds a nice touch of class to the outfit. And I always wear it on my left side because it just feels more natural there.
