Me too, but my tastes run a bit differently from the norm. The class I'm taking is modern Olympic fencing, but what I really want to learn is late medieval German longsword! Much more interesting. Aprox. 45" long two handed swords weighing in at about 3 or 4 lbs, and FAST! Not the slow, heavy, clumsy, hacking, skill-less fighting so cherished in the popular misconception of medieval fighting. There are groups that practice it, but not near me

Don't many fencing jackets have a groin that straps between the legs to connect with the back? I know a sabre jacket (especially a lamé jacket) is cut to the waist, but the regular protective jackets drop lower. Those definitely wouldn't work with a kilt.
You certainly woud be able to lunge easily, but I think a stray thrust could get tangled up in your kilt and be a danger. Besides, you'd have to find an all-white kilt and match that with white hose and flashes, and a white sporran.
Andrew (who used to fence foil and epée, back in his trousered days).
