Last winter I wore my kilt in below zero temps with no more problem than with pants.

Thank you. I still need a kilt jacket.

I was at the Scottish Merchant in Alexandria, wrong size as the summer of BBQ along with the spring and fall has me at my winter weight already.

I have been out with sweater and when hiking a Mtn Hardwear softshell.
A wool cape that would be great, may have too wait as the house is now wired house for cable/tele/net and wireless plus new pc for each child. my budget is blown for now. Anyone want to explain to my wife why I want, need Lacie drive next to the router.

Try calling the Hector Russel store in San Francisco. Their cost for a daywear jacket is actually less than the cost at the Scottish Merchant. I'm in NoVa too and I often have stuff shipped from SF because the HR price + very reasonable shipping terms is cheaper than the Scottish Merchant and Virginia sales tax.

Their number is 415-989-5458. Tell them Phil McKee from Fairfax, VA sent you. They seem to always remember me since the last time I was there physically I dropped almost $3000 in under and hour.

I will do shorts til 55F, so far my good kilt has been out down to 45F no problems. But this weekend is forecast for 24/25F what do you think

What kind of casaul kilt are you wearing?
First of all, welcome from Frederick, MD.

I wore my kilt Wednesday when it was 9 degrees out and really wasn't at all cold (well my hands did get cold:smile: ). It would been a little cool on the knees if I just stood around, but when I was walking I didn't have any problem. It helps to have good kilt hose.
