Greetings...From your Tennessee neighbor. My father is from Hickory and we drive through Ashville everytime we go over. Beautiful area. One of these days I'm going to stop and look around.

    Welcome Bill,

    From the canyonlands of Arizona.

You're gonna love hiking kilted IF you remember to use Bodyglide and/or an underkilt or very long tailed shirt. ;)

    Welcome Tartan Hiker

Good to have you on board.

There are some mountains out this way, too. I've been hiking and backpacking kilted for a while now, in both wool tartan and cotton/poly kilts, and they accomplish the goal of proper cooling and ventilation. However, there is nothing to wick the sweat from the skin and let it evaporate elsewhere during *vigorous* exertion, so you'll likely experience "dripping" down your legs; carry a bandana for the occassional drying off. Small price to pay for the other huge benefit of comfort.

Sign up in FRAPPR (see Big Paul's posts) and post some pictures there.

    Again, welcome.

Howdy, neighbor. It looks like we'll soon have a quorum around here. There are about enough within a short drive of Asheville (I'm in Canton) to have a kilt night one of these days.

Let's do it! There are several local pubs/brewhouses that would probably be amenable to the idea. 8)

All right. All those interested should PM one of us and we'll set it up. By the way, I happen to have two extra tickets to the 570 radio Super Bowl bash at the Crown Plaza. Care to join me?

I'm in. I'll start checking out the local pubs and see who's interested.
As for the tickets...thanks but I have my own ritual that I must observe. I set aside some firewood that needs cutting and crank up the chain saw at kickoff time so no one in the area has any doubt that I'm NOT watching the superbowl.
I love college football, however. Geaux LSU!
