Kiltedcodewarrior,
Hamish has one of these sporrans. They are some of the nicest looking leather sporrans made IMHO, and priced very reasonably for such quality. Cheers.

I posted a picture of it (grabbed from their website) somewhere...before Christmas.
Hamish has the same sporran btw...you can see it on his photo gallery.
You mentioned the tassels drumming. Is that something you look for in a sporran?
No, but someone else said this about another leather sporran with leather tassels...so when I got it...I tried straight away...and indeed....leather tassels make a lot of noise when they drum on a hard leather sporran.
Maybe I like this....might as well drive me nuts dunno...I'll find out.
The top of the handle seems quite large, so I was wondering about comfort after wearing it in your hose for a period of time.
That won't be a problem...the back of the handle is from rosewood...smooth and flat...the antler base is tilted, so it won't even touch my leg.
Thanks for the feedback guys...I'm really pleased with this sporran and sgian dubh.

That was probably me then, Rob! I bought a slightly more ornate version of the same sporran just over a year ago - and it's a great one too. A little heavy, even when empty, but it suits my needs well when I need to be somewhere between casually and informally dressed. Here's a pic of it:-

Robin, when I ordered mine I requested the plain leather strap instead of the chain-strap, and they provided it without question.
By the way: if the drumming of any leather tassels gets too much for me (or my walking companion, whose nerves suffer far more than do mine!), I back them with a tiny blob of BluTack then press them onto the face of the sporran. They'll stay in place until you want them drumming again, when you simply rub the said BluTack off leaving no marks or residue. Perfect!

P.S.
They will send you a strap instead of a chain if you ask them for it.

I have a casual brown leather sporran that I don't seem to get enough use of because I find that the black one just seems to go with everything so much better. Maybe it is because I do not have a good matching brown kilt belt. Where did you get the one in the pic?
The kilt concealed a blaster strapped to his thigh. Lazarus Long

Rob, The shirt is not a check pattern but what's known as a dogs-tooth pattern. It is basically in three colours, the main one being the same colour as the kilt. I picked up one of the other colours (maroon) in the flashes. I wear check or tartan shirts ONLY with plain, contemporary kilts such as Utilikilts.
The kilt is not tartan either but is in a khaki tweed with a slightly lighter line running both ways across it. This one came from The House of Bruar in Scotland - a specialist high-class tweed 'house' - where it is known as 'Windowpane Tweed'. ( www.houseofbruar.com )They sent me a matching flat cap in the same fabric when it was delivered......

Unfortunately, they no longer produce the kilts, concentrating on trousers and plus-fours and, other 'country' clothing, instead.
That brown belt with the brass buckle is a great favourite for day wear. It came from Geoffrey (Tailor) in Edinburgh some 15 years ago, but sadly they have nothing quite like it now. One of the first things I did when going for daily kilting was to equip myself with at least one full set of leather accessories (belt, sporran, shoes and boots) in both black and brown. Now I have about a dozen assorted leather belts and eleven sporrans, which makes mixing and matching great fun!
