Got a prompt reply from them answering a number of questions.

Hi. Thank you for your email. Let me answer your queries for you…

Kilt Hose are brand new (we sell the seconds on our eBay shop) and are manufactured by ourselves here in the UK.

We have been manufacturing socks since 1931, which allows us to be very competitive on price.

Please let me know if you have any more questions, I’ll be happy to answer them.

Don't know the outfit. They are offering kilt hose in cream, navy, black, lovat blue and lovat green in two sizes for 3.99 British Pounds a pair.

They also have a "deal" for ten pairs for 29.99 British Pounds.

Don't know the maker, they just say "one of the UK's leading manufacturers" They don't say they're seconds...but I wonder.

They also claim that they are on hand and ready for immediate shipment.

Anyone have any experience with these folks?

Can anyone who has these hose advise on how they might work on big calves.... It sounds like a great deal , but I already have several pairs I have to wear pushed down with boots because I can't pull them up,

well, there's a lot of lycra in them for stretch. I'd reccomend going to the website and emailing your question to them...they gave me a prompt response...sounds like something they'd answer...include your calf size

I found this e-bay seller's very cheap kilt hose were so good that I ordered several more pairs. They are made of a wool blend with some sort of elasticated material (lycra?) so would probably stay up on their own although I do also wear garters. Although my shoe size is UK size 9, I ordered the largest size (9.5 to 13) which were slightly too big on first wearing but shrunk to fit snugly. As I had a varicose veins op around 15 years ago and now feel more comfortable with lower leg support I find I am wearing the Brewin hose almost daily, with my kilts, with shorts to go jogging and even under long trousers on very cold days! One slight hiccup with my orders to Brewins - on one occasion they sent black instead of navy blue - an understandable error as their navy blue is very dark - but as I would wear blue or black I kept the two extra black pairs and re-ordered more navy ones. Sorry for double posting - hadn't seen this thread and had posted this as a new thread.

*begs the wife for the debit card*

Looks like a good enough deal... 4 pairs of kilt hose for around $30 is a steal as far as I'm concerned... especially considering everywhere else I look, they seem to run $25 a pair!

Oh yeah... they only have cream, navy, black, and lovat blue right now. Makes decision making easy... 1 OF EACH!!

Just received my first batch of 4 in the post this morning: 2 black, 1 lovat green, 1 navy. They look fine, but they arrived a bit late to get worn - let you know tomorrow how they fit and feel.

Well, I'm wearing the Lovat Green pair today. They fit quite well (I ordered 9 1/2 - 13) and look good. They're not heavyweight. I'd guess they were medium. There's no flesh colour showing through, so they're thick enough. They feel OK: normally I don't like the sensation of man-made fibres, but I don't seem to be aware of them, so perhaps the quite high wool content does the job. Anyway, I'm quite satisfied, so I'll probably buy another batch.
