Hi all,
New to the boards, but a long time wearer due to a long history in pipe bands. I posted my pipe band's addy in the ANZAC thread but i'll post it here again for the purposes of this thread : http://www.queenslandhighlanders.com/

I recently bought a kilt off Ebay :

Hope that link works OK...anyhow, it showed up promptly and was as advertised. I was quite surprised at the quality of it, although i may replace the straps and buckles with something more sturdy. The material is thick and the kilt is quite heavy, although obviously not as heavy as the top-notch kilt we are supplied with (for free!) in the Highlanders. The tartan we wear in the Grade 3 band which i play in is Ancient Logan, a very beautiful tartan. The Grade 1 band wears Stewart of Appin tartan.

I plan to get myself a 8 yard, 16oz kilt in the future in my family tartan, MacFarlane, when finances allow...meanwhile the Ebay kilt will have to keep me satisfied. I consider myself fortunate to have my family history back to the late 1600's, names and places...All Scottish, Orcadian and Irish. They emigrated to Australia about the same time in the early 1900's and ended up in beautiful Queensland.

cheers,
Rod
