First, I think you'll want to define "reasonable."
I've got one pair of boots that cost me quite a bit - but after twelve years of wear and one resoling, I consider them well worth the expenditure.
You might try a custom bootmaker, depending on your price range. I've been absolutely thrilled with the pair of SodHoppers knee-high boots I have. He even stitched a sheath for a sgian dubh into the right boot for me.
Without knowing "reasonable," I couldn't begin to give you a lead.

The others have given you good suggestions about boots, but I have to ask - do you have to have boots? For Highland games, a tartan kilt with a comfortable pair of shoes and some kilt hose would look great.

Well, I guess what I'm thinking is a pair of boots, like those that Colin pointed out. Kind of a short work boot. I like the look of that, and none of my shoes would look good with a kilt anyway.

Sicne I have an average adult male shoe size (the one that always disappears from the inventory first, it seems), I probably don't have the same appreciation for the difficulty in finding good, well-fitting shoes that you do. However, don't be afraid to ask the chain stores, like Foot Action and Foot Locker, if they have what you are looking for in their warehouse inventory. A couple of weeks ago, I tried to purchase some new Timberland boots from one of those (I can't tell the difference), but the store did not have my size in stock. My new boots were delivered to my door three days later.
My local Red Wing store doesn't keep much of anything in stock, but they'll happily order it for me.
Good luck,

...sportsmanguide is quite remarkable (to say the least)...I think that they once had East German Cavalry riding boots for sale...the kind that were made strictly for sitting on the horse...the soles were about cardboard thin and certainly not made for walking. I do believe, however, that they have improved their product lines since then...

I'm addicted to both Sportsman's Guide and Sierra Trading Post. They seem to have almost everything at the lowest prices around!
Here's a link to Sportsman's Guide's Boot Finder Page; I put in size 15 and got 99 responses back!
And here's the link where you can refine a search of Sierra Trading Post by size - not as many responses, but they've still got some.

Heh, count your blessings. I wear a size 10EEEEEE (yes, that is six Es.) That means I'm a 10 in length, but about a 13 - 14 in width. I know of one and only one place where I can get shoes:
http://www.wideshoes.com
Been using them for years and never had a problem.
