Considering that I could never wear Black Watch (or Royal Stewart), I think you are making that tartan wearable! Not only is it a fine-looking kilt, but the polo shirt (I LOVE polos with kilts) is perfectly co-ordinated, the hose too (but they still look thin!). If you were wearing the hose pulled up, I'd have criticised you for being too 'bottle green', but folded down they are not too much at all. Maybe you do need heavier-looking footwear to perfect the 'visual' - just a thought following on from Colin's comment.
PS: Please don't do the beard! It ages you, and we all need to hang on to as much 'youth' as we can muster. It disappears quickly enough of its own accord - I speak from experience! I have twice grown beards but never really liked myself with them, and the last time a friend asked, "why are you hiding behind all that hair?" It made me think, and I realised that she had a valid point!
