I've had nothing but bad experiences with this vendor, but my experiences have already been documented elsewhere here.

before making any further purchases, be sure to search and ask about vendors.

The only "good" experience I've had with them was buying from their booth at the Highland Games where I could lay hands on the goods, inspect them, pay, and take them with me then.

First encounter, ordered a Macdonald t-shirt. They sent me something with a raven on it....when I called to find out what clan's crest this was they insisted it was an "Ancient" Macdonald crest....right...maybe...but don't know anyone that would order a Macdonald crest today and expect a raven. Worse, the shirt was folded before the imprint was dry and the word Macdonald appears upside down, backwards, at an angle. They were so insistent they were right with overtones that I was stupid I just ate the loss. Life's too short.

Worst was last November 6th. In my quest for kilt hose for the coming winter I ordered five pair of kilt hose and two flashes from them after being assured they were in stock. On December 5th the hose and flashes were shipped to me....drop shipped FROM LOCHARRON'S WAREHOUSE IN KEARSARGE, NEW HAMPSHIRE!!! rather from Clansman Knitwear who purports to be next door in California.

This company, more than any other, has taught me to CAREFULLY research all the glitter and promises from the outfits offering kilt related items.

Do as you will brothers, but I have run from this outfit - unless I can score a deal from them at their booth at the games.

Sad, that businessmen with such attitudes and tactics seek to profit from the current kilt boom. There are good folks out there. You just gotta look, and be extra careful when you're new. Research the kilt boards. Trust those who have gone before you.

    Thumbs down

I don't feel like rehashing my dealings with them. They haunt me like a ghost.

All I'll say is they suck. Period.

I had heard so many bad things about this vendor and I ran into them at some games where they had a pretty large booth. I did not put 2 and 2 together at the time, but the guy was lementing that he was away from home travelling the games circuit most of the summer and had difficulty keeping up with orders while he was travelling. It was not until I got home and checked the board that I realized he was the same guy everyone was trashing so handily. I'm thinking once the season is over, he shifts it into neutral and recoups.

He has a lot of stock, good prices and while the merchandise is not "top shelf" stuff, but is undoubtedly more value oriented. He had a good deal of $99 kilts that easily compare to many of the $199 to $299 ones I have seen elsewhere. He had quality shirts and tees and many accessories and trinkets ant good prices. He does (or did) sell those skimpy black spaghetti strap "Kilt Inspector" tanks (the ones with the yellow silkscreen printing) you likely have appreciated on so many fit women at the Highland Games... so, good on him for that!

Anyhow, I would not order from Clansman Knitwear on-line. Unless you are willing to pay top-dollar and hope for the best elsewhere, if you are on the "left coast" I suggest waiting until "the kilted circus" comes back to town and do like Ron... examine, inspect, try-on and purchase face-to-face only those items that meet your standards. It is the only way you can ensure you are getting what you want, quickly and without any unnecessary complication or communication problems.
