Who in the kilt world is buying kilts from these folks? They sound horrible. I never thought it possible till now ... there really is such a thing as a bad kilt.

Like others here, I keep track of how many kilts I've got, even how many I've worn out and given away ... if you get a truly bad kilt is it proper counting etiquette to leave it in the closet and count it amongst the kilts you have or do you throw it out and count it that way? If never worn does it count at all, although it's assumed the kilt was at least tried on.

No honorable kiltman would give it away ... so it's keep it and count it or count it as tossed, I guess. Thankfully I have not yet faced this dilemma.

    Kilt On.

Sorry Rocky ....that was most certainly NOT my inention. I'd like to think that we ALL know that the quality of your Kilts is waaaaaaayyyyyy ahead of their nasty Pakistani imports.

I was looking for a casual kilt (just to wear for 'mucking about' in) last year and bid for one of these cheap kilts from Get Shirty. However I noticed on their web site that they actually do a woollen version which they call their 'ceileidh' range for about £90, so I paid the extra and for a 'casual' kilt it wasn't that bad. The material was excellent, it had two good quality straps and buckles, and although the pleats were very shallow a reasonable attempt had been made to replicate the sett across the back of the kilt (mine was in the Mackenzie tartan). They market it as 'a new concept in kiltmaking' and it certainly looked and felt good when worn. The pleats were heavy enough to swing impressively, although they didn't open like proper deep pleats, and the only fault was that the first pleat on the left side, not having enough depth, lifted too much. If you can't afford, or don't want to pay big bucks for a full 8 yard kilt then this is a very good alternative. However I would recomend Glenniff Highlandwear who are doing really good quality 8 yard kilts for £199 just now.
