Amen, brother!
The church I attend was started by a bunch of Jesus Freaks in the 70s & is still very freak friendly. Hair of any length, style or color? No problem! Body art & piercings? Welcome! And clothing is not an issue as long as it's not suggestive or contains offensive comments. (Though wearing a suit & tie would be considered very weird! )
When it's my turn to sing with the worship team up in front of the church (as I will next Sunday), my kilt fits right in & only gets compliments. In fact, another gent has started wearing a kilt & others are seriously thinking about it. It's a great feeling to help others see the light!

Wow, same thing happened at my church, Phil!

yes Ron, that's the same view as the friend I mentioned. I absolutely respect that view, but sorry, for myself I cannot agree.
You rightly point out that soon the kilt would be unnoticed, you might find that period to be quite short.
Whatever you are comfortable with. Jesus didn't stand out either, it took Judas to point Him out in the garden.
It depends on the church I guess too, as it's been said, some are diverse culturally speaking, others are conservative.
Causing no offense should be a priority.
Out of interest: Last week I preached about Patrick, Columcille and the early celtic saints, so my love for celtic things is well known and the kilt fits that well.

Love the verse. Our praise team gets a little loud sometimes....
Anyway, I've seen your pic somewhere...I think it was on realmenwearkilts.com...I'm not sure.
I haven't got my kilt yet, but I will wear it to church after I get it though. Churches in the Shenandoah Valley tend to be a bit on the conservative side, so it will be interesting

I did post a pic on Real Men but last time I looked it was not there. Oh well. I think the guy who started that site was from my hometown. I need to change that picture because my kids are much taller now!

There are days at our parish when it would be concievable to find 5 or 6 kilts, including Prester John, though his would be under his cassock, as is mine until the Divine Liturgy is over.
Kilts are becoming a real part of what we do, as we are involved in several Celtic events.

I met the minister of the parish church in Sidmouth, Devon, England as there were workshops of shape note singing in the church - from the Sacred Harp book, during Folkweek there.
He was wearing a rather nice long white frock.
