I remember a recent post with a video on "How to Wear a Kilt", it stated that the Sporran was worn for protection.

That's the video I linked to in my original post.
I'm certainly glad to learn that the sporran is just a sporran! Thanks to all for setting my mind at ease, and I'm DEFINITELY not surprised that some people have really crazy ideas about the mysteries of the KILT.
