There is a VERY long tradition of military service in our family. I was in the US Army Reserves for 6 years.

My mother was in the Army at Madigan Army Hospital WWII.
My father was in the Navy at the end of WWII.
My uncle flew dive bombers off of carriers in WWII (Navy Cross)
My paternal grandfather was CPO at Great Lakes Naval Training Station in WWII & on a destroyer in WW I
All 3 maternal uncles were in the Army during WWII
My maternal grandfater worked at the Rock Island Arsenal during WWII and retired from there in the late 50's
One cousin went to Viet Nam and is on the Wall.
One maternal GGGrandfather was in the Civil War (Union Army)
One maternal GGGGG(?)grandfather was one of the Green Mountain Boys during the Revolution.
One paternal GGGGG(?)grandfather was Phillip Livingston, signer of the Declaration of Independence.
His brother was on the commitee to draft it.
I could go on with other members of my generation but, enough is enough.

Primarily bubba means "brother". It's a southern word.
