Best to join a gym and get some good training, or, as I said earlier, seek out Coach Staley.
Took the words out of my mouth brotha. Olympic lifts! Olympic lifts! and some plyometrics! Explosive energy is where it's at. Plenty of really silly strong guys can't throw far. They are strong, but lack the ability to fire like a cannon. You need to train your muscles to produce their max energy very quickly, and Olympic lifts will do that. Jump shrugs are a really good exercise too.

Alan - are you guys still on for tomorrow (Sunday)? I'll need to bring the camera with the long lens so I can shoot pictures from the warmth and dryness of the truck cab.

We're ON! There might only be three of us, though...but rain or rain or more rain, we'll be throwin'!

I picked up some old weights for cheap at Allan Steel the other day. So now I have the ABS pipe, duct tape and 15 pound hammer sitting inthe garage. I also have enough weight for a 28 pound WOB/WFD. i'll grab the plumbing bits this weekend.
I bought a 50 lb bag of sand at the garden supply for $4.00, and will be putting that in a stout canvas bag. I'll take out 8 lbs of sand and I'll stitch webbing handles on the bag and will try using that for the 42 pound weight.

Let me know when you plan on training and I'll be there. I'm looking forward to Woodland and making a fool of myself. I know what you're thinking, no need to wait for Woodland, I make a fool of myself whenever I'm in public

Not to intrude . . . I've discovered a marvelous way to lose weight and toughen up. I've got a fifty pound bag of sand (Alan's post about the sandbag brought it to mind), duct-taped into submission and stuffed into my large ALICE pack. Three or four times a week I'll hike three miles with that on. It is grand stuff indeed to be out walking about in nature in a kilt with a pack on!
