The mild winter of Vancouver does not stop me from getting into my kilts. The cold and the rain doesn't bother me at all.

I don't wear the kilt every day...lots of reasons for that...but I do tend to wear it more often in the winter and particularly in cold weather in which context it is sort of a show-off thing for me. "Hey...look at this...yeah, I'm wearing a KILT and it's FREEZING out because I am SO much tougher than you trouser-wearing chicken-$#!+$ ...so don't dare make fun of the kilt!"
But I don't often wear it when I have any kind of heavy or active work to do and that's mainly because I don't want to mess any of them up. Now I have several and they're starting to fall into categories - this is the dressier one, this one I'll wear to the bar because if I spill beer on it I can wash it, this one I could wear doing yard work...etc. So I'll probably be wearing one while I shovel snow this year...again, it sends a message to the un-kilted.
Best
