So, do I turn my kilt forward one pleat, or back one pleat?

Another Zonie here...we don't mess with it. Just keep truckin' along.

Only trouble is that the Navajo Nation does...and Utah does...and were right between both so folks are always having to clarify "which time" they mean.

Was a trip when I worked for the Navajo Nation though. Window Rock, the tribal government HQ went on daylight savings time so they were an hour ahead of our local office.

So when 4 O'Clock would roll around we'd joke, "Five O'Clock in Window Rock." and make like we were heading for home.

Personally have been living on AZ time since 2003. When the last Sunday in October 2003 rolled around, I didn't reset my clocks. Sure, the rest of the family did, but it never bugged me.

    Dst

Here in Anchorage, we get up to 19 hours of daylight in the summer (when the sun doesn't even set north of here), yet we still feel the need to implement DST. Makes no sense to me . . .

So did I. And I still do! I patched 33 assorted UNIX workstations and it didn't seem to work! I'm not a happy camper right now.

I personally feel that DST is a joke. Even if Benjamin Franklin thought it was a good idea.

I bloody hate Daylight Savings time! By the time I remembered this morning, all the fresh powder was already skied out! I should send a bill to my congressman for the cost of my lift ticket today! Bloody Bastards!

And, I forgot to wear my kilt even though it was an awesome and warm day out today.....Bloody hell! Grrrrrrrrr.

For the UK, the dates are set by the Department of Trade and Industry. For the next few years, it's:

In 2007: the Sundays of 25 March and 28 October
In 2008: the Sundays of 30 March and 26 October
In 2009: the Sundays of 29 March and 25 October
In 2010: the Sundays of 28 March and 31 October
In 2011: the Sundays of 27 March and 30 October

The full scoop is on the DTI's web site here.

Since the UK is now part of the EU, there's legislation linking the UK dates to the European dates (though of course the CET zone is one hour ahead). Since 1981, EC Directives have prescribed the start and end dates of summer time in all Member States. There have to date been eight Directives which have set summer-time arrangements for fixed periods. The Summer Time Act 1972 sets the appropriate dates in the UK and summer-time orders have been made as necessary to implement the European Directives. The 9th EC Directive prescribes the start and end dates of summer time as the last Sundays in March and October respectively. These dates are in line with those already operating in the United Kingdom. The 9th Directive provides that these start and end dates should apply indefinitely.

    Best regards
