As some of you might remember I'm working on making a fly-plaid to go with my Dad's favourite kilt, a Macdonald modern dress that was woven with some very bright colours and large blocking.

I'm still sewing the fly, but I decided to make a few flashes for him to go with it.


Here's the pictures...



First, I cut four pieces of the fabric to the same pattern.



Then I lined them up so that the pattern matched, folded them to make the general 'Flash' shape, ironed them and used thin paper and fabric glue to close them off.



Then I lined them up again and sewed the loops in the top.



Finally, I put them on to make sure that the pattern continued and matched the kilt.



And here they are being worn with some black hose.



Now here's hoping that the fly-plaid turns out as well.
