I have personal experience with this - but it wasn't my ferret, and the experience was rather terrifying.
I was at an event wearing a "great kilt," and happened across a pair of friends.
Both of them have ferrets. Both of them like to walk their ferrets on leashes.
Ferrets have an unholy fascination with dark places.
You can see where this is going...
