You kilt looks very nice but could be worn at your natural waist. (About 1" to 1 1/2" Higher than you are wearing it.) That would bring the hem to right at the top of the knee cap. When a Traditional Style kilt is cinched on it should feel almost like a kidney belt in the back.
that's possible, but the top of the "waist band" was about an inch above my navel. i thought that was about right. but I'll try higher.

well i think that was because of the way i was standing combined with the wrinkles that need steamed out.

well hanging in the bathroom hasn't worked yet and it's been 3 showers so far.
think i need to locate my iron.
Congratulations on a very nice kilt. Wear it with pride. [/QUOTE]

I know you're happy to have your kilt. Congratulations.
As to the waist, it's almost impossible to wear it too high although it feels a bit strange at first to have it above where you wear jeans. The fact is, it's more comfortable, and the selvage to the top of the knee cap is about right (im my own humble and not-expert opinion).
Wear it with pride mon, wear it with pride.

noticed something odd today.
when i was getting set up to rid my front apron of the 2 questionable
creases;
i noticed that the apron had the dreaded "shine" to it in spots.
using my iron i managed to stem the creases out and everything looks much better now.
but I'm wondering about the shinny fabric.
it looks like someone had ironed it before me.
i guess it is possible this is a re-sale of a returned product and I'm not really worried
about it as you an only see it if the apron his completely horizontal.
(parallel to the ground)
does the shine get removed when the Kilt is washed?
and any recommendations on how to wash a SWK,
i know it's machine washable but what cycle and water temp. is best?

The shine is from ironing without a cloth of some kind between the iron and the kilt, hopefully it's not that bad, I really dont think you will get the shine out but you can try.

On the card I got with a Stillwater it says:
Our Acrillic can be machine-washed (gentle) and hang dried, wool kilts need to be dry-cleaned.
For the best temprature why not email Jerry at Stillwater.
I hope to see your new kilt next friday.
One last thing if I were you I would listen to Steve the kilt looks like its a wee bit low, try hiking it up a bit, and if you can try to get some coloured kilt socks either the lovat green or black would look good with it.

tried a black shirt with my Kilt today and black socks,
seems I'm putting my Kilt on with the right hip sitting a little higher than the left.
i need a bigger mirror. and new shirts... and new socks...lmao.
lord my shirts look bad, and the poopy out of shape upper body doesn't help.
(i look grumpy because i thought something was goofing up with my camera)

Ok, you look fine. I wear white socks with sneakers... it sets off the white socks with an athletic look... Looks good. Pressing is the best. I have a black Mizzou shirt on.

you know I've kinda realized something,
it's not the way I'm wearing my kilt.
(although in the pic with the black shirt my kilt is on crooked)
it's not my shirts,
(although they will look better if i blouse them at the waist)
it's because of my blasted arm/shoulder.
because my left arm is functionally A.W.O.L. i haven't
been able to keep my chest and abdominals in shape.
add to that I've been a couch potato for years........
well it's not the clothes,
it's me.
now to figure out just how to fix it!
